Meditation Cabin
This meditation cabin's purpose is to create a tranquil space within the forest to support a single occupant for a short-term stay. The cabin is positioned on the site to take advantage of the view over a nearby pond, while also being directed towards the rising sun. The form consists of two main volumes which slant in opposite directions, creating a division of space while maintaining a rectangular floor plate. Half of the space is dedicated to utility needs, while the other half is catered towards creating a comfortable area for meditation and sleep. The windows which follow the slanted roof line are placed to create a sense of openness in the meditation space while becoming more closed towards the utility area. The offset volumes also create windows within the negative spaces, which allow for a more panoramic view of the landscape outside when seated in the meditation area.
